A PhD scholarship is available at RMIT University, Australia. The successful applicant will join our research team to work in one of the following areas: (1) micro-/nano-mechanics; (2) mechanics of composite/nanocomposite structures; and (3) nonlinear structural dynamics and stability The perspective applicants should (a) hold a MSc. degree in a closely related area; (b) have strong background in and good knowledge of solid mechanics, composite structures and numerical modeling techniques; (c) be self-motivated and enthusiastic to conduct high-quality research; (d) have both undergraduate and postgraduate GPAs > 3.4/4.0; and (e) meet the language requirements below IELTS: overall score ¡Ý 6.5 (no sub-band score < 6); or TOEFL (paper based): overall score ¡Ý 570 (writing ¡Ý 5, reading ¡Ý 54, listening ¡Ý 54); or TOEFL (internet based): overall score ¡Ý 90 (writing ¡Ý 21, reading ¡Ý 20, listening ¡Ý 20, speaking ¡Ý 20) Experience with finite element modeling will be regarded as an asset but not essential.
