Approximately more than 90% of tricolour phosphor is aluminate system in China and the rest of them are, in order, phosphate system and borate system. The requirement for synthesis temperature and process is relatively low when borate is used as the matrix of the luminnescent material whose product has higer luminous efficiency, better display and lower brightness decay, and vise versa. It’s obviously that luminescent material will bring inexorable economic and social benefits, only if we develop borate as its matrix. A wide range of zinc-borate complexes whose general formula is XZnO•YB2O3•ZH2O have been reported. The research is mainly focus on flame retardant and additive.
