thanks for posting your thoughts comparing the typical house structure in US and China. i come from a village in Hunan, south China. There, villagers tend to build two-story or three-story houses with almost identical structures. Even the painting is very alike each other. I think there are two reasons behind. Firstly, villagers like to put themselves on a safe side due to cultural feature. In this case, they would prefer to follow others rather than making a difference. Secondly, most villages are often devoid of good architect. You might argue that many workers are quite smart. But they are usually lack of professional training thus with little qualification in architectural design. As a result, many houses DO NOT really have their design, not even to talk about designing styles. In one word, we need better education system to produce talented architect to design and build more beautiful houses. This will only be achieved when we have stronger economical power. |
