A novel Rb borate RbB5O7(OH)2.H2O has been synthesized by the low-temperature molten salt method, which has been analyzed and demonstrated to crystallize in the space group of P2/n in the monoclinic system with the following crystal parameters by the single crystal X-ray diffraction: a=0.7640(2)nm£¬b=0.9019(3)nm£¬c=1.0833(3)nm£¬¦Â=103.681(5)¡ã£¬V=0.7252(4) nm3£¬Z=2. Besides, the crystal structure shows that the [B5O7(OH)2]- units composed of BO3¡¢BO2(OH) and BO4 interconnect and form infinite chains, which then forms a 3D net structure of RbB5O7(OH)2.H2O with ten-coordinated Rb cations. Meanwhile, the compound has also been characterized by XRD, IR and TGA.
