[交流] 以色列化学家获得诺贝尔化学奖！来之不易！已有27人参与

2011年10月5号：今天，以色列科学家Daniel Shechtman因发现quasicrystals(准晶体）而获得2011年诺贝尔化学奖！

瑞典皇家科学院说他在1982的这一发现会从基础上改变化学家对固态事物的看法。

他的发现是极具争议性的，科学院说：“在辩护他的发明的过程中，他被要求离开课题组。然而，他的斗争最终使得科学家们重新认识了这一非常具有特殊类型的物质。”

70岁的Shechtman是海法(以色列港市）以色列科学研究院的材料学教授。他将于今年12月获得1千万克朗（150万美元）的奖金。

Israeli scientist Daniel Shechtman won the 2011 Nobel Prize in chemistry on Wednesday for his discovery of quasicrystals.

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences said Shechtman's discovery in 1982 fundamentally changed the way chemists look at solid matter.

Shechtman's discovery was extremely controversial, the academy said. "In the course of defending his findings, he was asked to leave his research group. However, his battle eventually forced scientists to reconsider their conception of the very nature of matter," it said.

Shechtman, 70, is a professor of materials science at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa. He will receive the 10 million kroner ($1.5 million) prize in December
