The primary thrust of their research is the development of chemo- and stereoselective methodologies in organic chemistry, catalytic processes being the main focus. Their efforts are interdisciplinary and can be assigned to four areas of interest:

Development of novel types of chiral ligands for asymmetric transition metal catalysis
Development of supramolecular transition metal catalysts
Preparation and application of water-soluble nanostructured metal oxide colloids
Evolution in the test tube as a means to create enantioselective biocatalysts
