Who is more important in an article, the correspondent author or the first author? It seems no one can answer this question certainly. In most people's mind, the first author is the most important author in one article. He/she should be responsible for the whole process from material collecting, experiemental design, data collecting and analysis, and the paper writing while the correspondent author is only responsible for the correspondence with the edition boards. Usually, the correspondent author is mostly the supervisor or the project director who makes suggestions on your experiment, data analysis or paper writing. Now, many units take great importance on the correspondent author. Most units hold equal importance to the first writer and the correspondent author. But the interllectural property of the paper belong to the correspondent author and his representative unit. Therefore, from this point, the correspondent author seems to be more important. If your article is mostly finished by yourself, and especially based on your own creative idea, it's better for you to be both the first author and the correspondent author. I know many people in fact have no choice when involed in the issue of authorship.

日前被同学问及什么是通讯作者。仅仅知悉跟研究生导师指导学生做科研论文署名有关，没能很好的回答。今日特查询了一番。虽仍为一头雾水，但还是有所收获。

第一作者当然不用多说了；而通讯作者一般指整个课题的负责人。以前国内一般注重排名，老板要排在第2，现在有变化了，所谓和国际接轨哦，投国外杂志时老板可放在最后，并注名是通讯作者。当然有些老板还是看中排名的，最好要和他商量一下。

通讯作者往往指课题的总负责人，他要负责与编辑部的一切通信联系和接受读者的咨询等。应该说，通讯作者多数情况和第一作者是同一个人，这样的话实际上是省略了通讯作者。只有在通讯作者和第一作者不一致的时候，才有必要加通讯作者。我不赞成一味地模仿国外杂志，加不加通讯作者应根据需要而定。

现在国内很多地方也改革了，很是看重通讯作者的，如果是自己很有分量的文章不要随便将别人作为通讯作者（当然这个别人是指老板，主任，领导etc). 实际上如果从知识产权上来说，研究成果算是通讯作者的。有这样贪得无厌的老板，研究室的一切文章包括研究生、博士后的都要算作他的通讯作者，实际上他连***都不懂。

通讯作者是课题负责人，承担课题的经费，设计，文章的书写和把关。他也是文章和研究材料的联系人。最重要的是，他担负着文章可靠性的责任。通讯作者的好处是能和外界建立更广泛的联系。一些杂志会约你申稿，写综述。这些会大大地提高你在科学界的地位。 所以，老板一般不会将通讯作者让给手下的人。第一作者一般是本文工作中贡献最大的研究人员。此作者不仅有最多和最重要的图表 (即体力上的贡献)，也是文章初稿的撰写人(即对本文的智力贡献)。一些反映老板重要观点的文章，老板也不会放过既是第一又是通讯作者。有些杂志甚至声明只有体力上的贡献不可以作文章的作者，但可以致谢。
通讯作者即文章最重要的作者,在论文投稿、修改直至被接受发表的过程中的一切联络工作一般由通讯作者负责。通讯作者应该是论文对外责任的承担者

As a minimum, authors should take responsibility for a particular section of the study. The award of authorship should balance intellectual contributions to the conception, design, analysis and writing of the study against the collection of data and other routine work. If there is no task that can reasonably be attributed to a particular individual, then that individual should not be credited with authorship. All authors must take public responsibility for the content of their paper. The multidisciplinary nature of much research can make this difficult, but this may be resolved by the disclosure of individual contributions.

2.行政领导。
3.仅仅是收集数据，没有参加分析，讨论，撰写等等的实验员。
4.和资深作者或主要作者有特殊关系的人。
谁应该是第一作者？
论文的第一作者通常是具体工作的主要执行者，对主要实验结果负责。
资历浅的年轻人优先。
在大多数情况下，按字母排序是不合理的。
有时候将两个作者名字下注明：他们有相同的贡献。

9. To give due acknowledgement to all workers contributing to the work. Those who have contributed significantly to the research should be listed as co-authors. The corresponding author signs a copyright licence on behalf of all the authors.
