Polyacrylate emulsions are a family of widely used polymer emulsion with superior quality and meet environmental demands. Polyacrylate emulsions are widely used in various technical fields, such as construction, textile, papermaking, leather, industrial painting and biological medicine engineering. Based on theory of emulsion polymerization, this article deals with semi-continuous synthesis of cationic polymer emulsion with seed pre-emulsification, yield rate of emulsion reaching 34%.
With phenylethylene, butyl acrylate, methylmethacrylate and acrylic acid as monomers, cetyltrimethylammonium bromide and OP-10 as emulsifying agent, polyacrylate emulsion were obtained through emulsion polymerization. Properties such as solid content of emulsion, PH value and stability were determined. Effects of mixing proportion of composite emulsifier, emulsifying agent dosage, initiator dosage and polymerization temperature on emulsion polymerization and properties were discussed.
