[交流] 收到编辑部的“催稿”信已有20人参与

小弟1月份向RSC旗下的一份期刊投稿，很快地一个来月就收到了审稿意见，并给了大修。编辑部的通知没有说明修稿期限，只是在信中说“your revised manuscript should be uploaded as soon as possible. If it is not possible for you to submit your revision in a reasonable amount of time, we may have to consider your paper as a new submission.”
因为之前道听途说大修一般的期限为3个月，你回得早还会被人感觉没有认真修稿，因此也就慢慢地来，对编辑部也没有回信确认收到其审稿意见（现在想想，当时在接到信之后应该回复一封表示收到，并已经开始着手修改了）

下午突然收到编辑部的来信，
Ref: Manuscript ID EM-ART-01-2011-010062 entitled "XXX" which you submitted to XXX.

The reviewers' comments on the above paper were sent to you recently. If you have not yet received these please let us know at once. We would like to remind you that revised manuscripts should be returned as soon as possible after receipt of the reviewers' comments (delayed resubmissions may be considered as new papers).

Please provide your revised manuscript by logging on to your account at XXX and following the link alongside the above manuscript details.

I look forward to receiving your revised manuscript soon.

信中除了向我确认是否收到邮件，其中措辞还是很急切的， as soon as possible ，soon等等，看得我心慌慌。向各位有经验的虫子请教，这样的催稿信，是编辑部的一般惯例，还是这本期刊对投稿修稿的时间要求确实比较严格？我动作慢也是为了更好地按照审稿人的意见修改，如何回信向编辑部表达这个意思呢？

另外还有一问，这份催稿信的标题就是
Reminder: Revision dueshortly on Manuscript ID XXX
请问这个dueshortly 应该如何理解？貌似查不到这个单词？？难道编辑也会打错

前天忐忑地给编辑部回了封信，夸赞他们效率奇高之外，还问他们对于修回时间是否有definite deadline。昨天编辑部这样回复了：

In response to your query, typically when we recommend major revisions, authors are sent automatic reminder emails to submit their revised manuscript at 14, 30 and 38 days following the decision. We would normally expect authors to submit their revised manuscript within this time however due to the nature of some revisions this is not always possible. After this time authors receive no further correspondence from ourselves therefore it is in the author’s interest to submit their manuscript as soon as possible.

说了半天，还是没有给出准确的修回日期，依然还是as soon as possible。。。。看来英国人也喜欢打太极啊
