【建议】APD,大多数中国人的鸡肋。 已有13人参与

今年的ARC项目结果已于上周出来,所有信息都可以在www.arc.gov.au上查到。针对APD越来越大的吸引力,只想给大家打打预防针,提醒一下有哪些主要阻碍,当然只是谈一些普遍现象和数据,对某些秒杀所有offer的牛人可以完全无视。 2011年ARC的DP结果可以浏览http://www.arc.gov.au/pdf/DP11/DP11_STATE_ORG.pdf 统计报告可见 http://www.arc.gov.au/ncgp/dp/DP11_selrpt.htm 1时间跨度 每年3月开始申请下一年APD,6月底rejoinder,10月底出结果,第二年开始项目,当然可以适当延期。在这7-9个月时间甚至更长的里,你除了等待什么也不能做。对于绝大多数国内的等着薄厚位置开饭养家糊口的人来说绝对不是什么好事。对于刚毕业或即将毕业的博士,你很难把时间衔接起来。你起码要有一个保底的位置才不会在这几个月"失业"。别的薄厚是match你的日程,APD是需要你来match它的时间表。 2申请难度 今年的APD成功率13+%,数了数大概13,4个中国人吧,占APD的15%左右,这些人绝大多数还是有海外背景的。所以说国内的纯“土鳖”要注意了,你必须有比别人高一头的学术背景才行,否则很难出头。这倒不是ARC歧视,放到任何一个国家都是这样的,所以大家还是要共同提高自己的实力来改变这个现状。 3申请过程中的问题 很多陶瓷澳洲教授的人都得到回复希望他们申请APD,这对教授们百利无一害。但是申请者之间还是有区别的,对APD申请者,简单可分为自己写proposal和别人写带上你作为PI的。对于后者,那对于APD申请者是轻松方便,但这种情况很少,因为ARC对每个人有项目数量限制,大牛项目早就满了。如果是前者,自己就要好好掂量一下了。搭上时间不说,很大程度上可能做无用功。独立中国人CI成功率有多少,你数一数就知道了。 4各人背景和竞争力的问题 总见有人问,这个背景够不够洪堡,几篇文章够不够JSPS之类。对于所有的薄厚位置,文章不是唯一的标准,但肯定越多越好。你自己到底有没有竞争力,host是最清楚的了。当然,通常情况下中等偏上水平都会被老板们忽悠过去,不上不下最惨了。绝大多数人也都是抱着不试不知道的心态,结果呢,80%的人是注定要当炮灰的。 总之呢,罗嗦了这么多,希望大家考虑APD的时候多一点心理准备,这钱多,但不是那么好拿的。2012年的申请马上又要开始了,大家准备好了么?? |
