开个帖子，自言自语 读到NCE第四册的23册， 其中，can bore for long distances中的bore不是bear的动词变形，外研社出版的辅导书对此处解释有误。查了下美国传统词典，原来是to proceed or advance 之意。 具体释义如下 bore To proceed or advance steadily or laboriously: 艰难前行：稳稳地或费力地前进或上移： a destroyer boring through heavy seas. 一艘在深海中破浪前进的驱逐舰 |

最近看新闻，记下的几个句子 1.UCLA researchers have pinpointed the culprit behind chronic rejection of heart, lung and kidney transplants. 2.Their findings suggest new therapeutic approaches for preventing transplant rejection and sabotaging cancer growth. 3.In this study, Reed and her colleagues looked at how HLA molecules on donor tissue provoke an immune response in the patient. 4.By interfering with integrin's reliance upon HLA to signal cells, we can sabotage cells' ability to sprout new blood vessels to feed the tumor. 5.The researchers believe that SFRP1 works in concert with other molecules to respond to the availability of energy. |

真是惭愧，还要版主热心敦促 近日读了新概念英语第四册的48课，有句话：only if you're blessed with a sanguine disposition 其中的sanguine现在多翻成乐观自信的。不过昨日读到的1920年代写的篇小说里，作者用了“多血质”来形容一个日本小女孩的开朗乐观，料想也是从sanguine翻译而来的。语言的演化的确很有意思 [ Last edited by autophagic on 2010-9-20 at 16:56 ] |
