As a new service from AIP, authors may now make payments and order reprints through the CCC's Rightslink service. If you haven't done so already, we encourage you to set up a Rightslink account. Using the link provided above, you may proceed to set up your account, pay any applicable publication charges, and order reprints for your paper.
All payments and orders should be made through Rightslink.
Page charges are an important source of funds that help finance the ongoing publication of journals of not-for-profit society publishers like AIP. The library budget crisis that has grown from high subscription costs threatens the broad distribution of journal articles, and the payment of page charges helps to keep down subscription prices and, therefore, maximize distribution for journals such as J. Appl. Phys.
We, at AIP, believe that the widest distribution of our journals will occur only if all participants, including authors, readers, and their institutions, financially support the journals in some reasonable proportion to how they use them. Readers are obviously users, and as subscribers they support some of the journal costs. Publishing in a journal is another way you and your institution also use J. Appl. Phys., and we hope you find it worthy of your support. We thus ask that you consider that your cost of doing research include paying page charges to cover a part of the cost of reporting your research.
Thank you for your support of J. Appl. Phys.
Sincerely,
Office of the Journal Publisher
