【报告人简介】：Euan Nisbet教授简介:

Euan Nisbet is Foundation Professor of Geology in the Department of Earth Sciences at Royal Holloway, University of London, UK. He studied first at the University of Zimbabwe and then Cambridge, studying physics and geology (1967-70). His Ph.D research was at Darwin College, Cambridge, into Greek ophiolites, under the supervision of Alan Smith. Awarded Cambridge University's Harkness Prize, he used the funds to study at the University of California, Davis. During this US visit he participated in the Penrose meeting that led to the definition of ophiolites. After this, he held a Natural Environment Research Council research fellowship in Oxford, studying Archaean greenstone belts in his home continent, Africa and was also a Fellow at Wolfson College, Oxford, and at the University of Zimbabwe.

From 1977-78 he held a Royal Society European Exchange Fellowship at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), Zürich, followed by a faculty post at the University of Cambridge. In 1981 he moved to the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, becoming a Full Professor in 1986. From 1985-87 he held a EWR Steacie Fellowship from NSERC Canada, presented to him by the Governor-General. Since 1992, he has been a Professor at Royal Holloway.

Currently he leads the Atmospheric Methane Group at Royal Holloway, and is Leader of the Greenhouse Gas Activity in the European Union's GEOmon Global Monitoring project. Formerly, he coordinated the Meth-MonitEUr project, studying methane in Europe and Russia. His geological work on the early Earth has been mainly in the Belingwe greenstone belt, Zimbabwe, studying komatiite volcanism, stromatolites and early microbial evolution.  He is a Distinguished Fellow of the Geological Association of Canada and has given the William Smith (2003) and Fermor (2000) lectures of the Geological Society of London. Books include The Young Earth: an Introduction to Archaean Geology (Allen and Unwin, 1987), and, on global change, Leaving Eden (C.U.P., 1991), which has been translated into Chinese and German. With Nick Arndt, he edited Komatiites (Allen and Unwin, 1982) which has also been translated into Chinese.

周美夫 教授简介：周美夫,  1983年毕业于南京大学地质学系，1992年获加拿大Saskatchewan大学硕士学位，1995年获加拿大Dalhousie大学博士学位。现任香港大学地球科学系教授, 中国科学院矿床地球化学国家重点实验室学术委员会委员，曾任国际矿床地质学会(SGA)副主席和美国地质学会期刊《Geological Survey of America Bulletin》副主编，现为资源地质学会期刊《Resource Geology》顾问, 欧洲地质地球物理学会电子期刊《eEarth》副主编, 国家自然科学核心期刊《矿床地质》, 《岩石矿物学杂志》，《地质与勘探》编委,  长期从事研究铬铁矿及蛇绿岩地球化学、峨眉山大火成岩省有关的镁铁-超镁铁质岩石铂族元素地球化学以及扬子地块西缘新元古界地质研究。
作为项目负责人，负责过多项香港RGC项目、国家海外杰出青年基金项目， 以及多项国际合作项目等重要科研项目的研究，并取得重要成果。至今已发表论文230多篇（其中国际SCI论文170多篇），SCI论文被SCI论文引用近3000次．　并在“Lithos"合编专辑2辑和“Journal of Asian Earth Sciences"上合编专辑1辑，合作出版专著2部。 2001年获“国家海外杰出青年基金”，2004年获香港大学杰出青年学者奖，2009年获香港大学杰出研究生导师奖。
