PhD positions in the remediation of Forever Chemicals Have you ever thought of saving the World from PFAS or Forever Chemicals? If so, we are offering two PhD positions to develop solar-based technologies for the remediation of such pollutants. The Candidates will have the opportunity to be part of an International Project and work with a team of chemists, biologists, computational chemists, environmental and chemical engineers. Outstanding candidates shall be able to spend research attachments with collaborators from The Netherlands, Sweden, New Zealand or Australia. At the end of the studies, Candidates will be able to implement a working prototype to eliminate Forever Chemicals in contaminated water directly under the Sun. Self-motivated Candidates with Bachelor (1st Class Honors) and Masters (optional only) degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Materials Science, Chemical and related Engineering from reputable universities are encouraged to apply. The positions are open to Local and International Candidates with good commands in English. Please email short CV with academic transcripts to Wey Yang TEOH (wy.teoh@um.edu.my). About the PI: Wey Yang TEOH is Associate Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Malaya (UM). He gained BE and PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of New South Wales (UNSW). Prior to UM, he was Tenured Associate Professor at the School of Energy and Environment, City University of Hong Kong, where he led the Clean Energy and Nanotechnology (CLEAN) Laboratory. His research is dedicated to the fundamentals of heterogeneous thermal- and photocatalysis, and particularly in solving various Energy and Environmentally-related problems. Among them, he developed advanced catalysts for solar hydrogen generation, reduction of carbon dioxide, biomass valorization, and the abatement of environmental micropollutants. He holds Honorary Associate Professorship at UNSW, Erskine Fellow at the University of Canterbury and serves on the Innovation Advisory Board of HeiQ AG (a leader in textile innovation and listed company on London Stock Exchange). He also serves as Chief Technology Officer of an Energy deeptech startup. Wey Yang TEOH教授现任马来亚大学（UM）化学工程系副教授，获得新南威尔士大学（UNSW）化学工程学士学位和博士学位。在加入UM之前，Teoh教授曾任香港城市大学能源与环境学院的终身副教授，并领导了清洁能源与纳米技术（CLEAN）实验室。他的研究方向集中在异质催化和光催化的基础理论及应用开发，特别是针对能源与环境问题的解决方案。Teoh教授在太阳能制氢、二氧化碳还原、生物质增值以及环境微污染物治理等领域开发了多种先进催化剂。Teoh教授还是新南威尔士大学的名誉副教授、坎特伯雷大学的厄斯金研究员，并在HeiQ AG（纺织创新领域的领先企业，伦敦证券交易所上市公司）担任创新咨询委员会成员。他还担任一家能源高科技初创公司的首席技术官。 |
