如下
I am writing to update you on the progress of your recent submission to ChemComm.  I apologise that the length of the review process on this occasion is longer than is usual
for ChemComm and we are not yet able to provide you with an editorial decision.  Unfortunately, the two initial reports did not contain agreeing recommendations so your
manuscript has therefore been sent to an adjudicative referee.

We will contact you again as soon as a full set of reports have been received and a decision has been reached on the outcome of your submission.

I apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience.
