the university of turku is a world-class multidisciplinary research university which offers interesting challenges and a unique vantage point to national and international research and education.
position description
a post-doctoral researcher position in nanobiomedicine from the systems chemistry perspective funded by the academy of finland is available in the laboratory of dr. jianwei li at the medicity, the faculty of medicine, university of turku. the position will be based on an 18-month contract which could be extended to 36 months according to the performance of the researcher. there will be a 4-month trial period in the contract. the position will start from january 2019 and the successful candidate will be supported to secure research funding from external sources as well.
systems chemistry stands at the frontier of research in molecular sciences. unlike the traditional chemistry that works on single molecular entities, it focuses on chemical systems consisting of multi-components with multi-functions, trying to get insights into complex chemical systems of interacting molecules and their system-level properties. the li¡¯s group is focusing on the investigation of systems chemistry by using the tool of dynamic combinatorial chemistry.
the current position will try to develop innovative drug/gene delivery system from dynamic combinatorial libraries. the proposed project is ranging from synthetic chemistry, analytical chemistry, materials chemistry, noncovalent interactions study in supramolecular chemistry and drug/gene delivery. this will give the researcher a wide variety of training in synthesis of organic molecules, component analysis by using modern hplc-ms, material characterization by tem, sem and afm, in vitro cell and in vivo animal experiments.
salary
the salary is determined in accordance with the university salary system for teaching and research personnel. for a postdoctoral researcher, the salary is at levels 4-6 on the job demands chart, where the task specific salary component is 2475,31 ¨c 3340,77 €/month. in addition, there is a share increase based on the personal performance, which is, at most, 46.3% of the base salary depending on the previous relevant research experience of the candidate.
eligibility
you must be independent and motivated and have a doctorate degree in chemistry, biomedicine, materials or related discipline. we will give preference to candidates having experience in the related areas such as supramolecular chemistry, materials chemistry with applications in biomedicine and/or soft matter chemistry. the candidate should have excellent oral and writing skills in english and have the willingness to attend international conferences and work on some collaborative projects with groups in europe. more detailed qualification requirements of the position are written in the university of turku rules of procedure. http://www.utu.fi/en/university/ ... es_of_procedure.pdf
