Oh, really?  I heard of this for the first time. If what you said is right, it seems that some verb can be passive only when it can be transitive. That is to say, sleep can not be passive when it is intransitive and stands for a state of sleep.

the thing is that we dont talk about a word when it is only a word. grammar is to serve sentences. dont make a certain rule for any word, it is like limiting their usage.

The grammar itselft is a certain kind of rule that governs how to use the words appropriately for better communications. It is not a matter of making rules, but how we use the words correctly in logic. So I still disagree that every verb can be passive.

Please see the end of third line, "be + transitive verb". Note that it is "transitive verb" not every verb.
