【请教】 type-I和type-II QDs的概念

type-I QDs, where the band offsets are such that the conduction band of the shell (the higher band gap material) is of higher energy than that of the core (the lower band gap material), and the valence band of the shell is of lower energy than that of the core. As a result, both electrons and holes are confined in the cores. A type-II QD, in contrast, has both the valence and conduction bands in the core lower (or higher) than in the shell. As a result, one carrier is mostly confined to the core, while the other is mostly confined to the shell. |

正确的理解是这样的 Three cases can be distinguished, denominated type-I, reverse type-I, and type- II band alignment (cf. Figure 1). In the former, the bandgap of the shell material is larger than that of the core and both electrons and holes are confined in the core. In the second, the bandgap of the shell material is smaller than that of the core and, depending of the thickness of the shell, the holes and electrons are partially or completely confined in the shell. In the latter, either the valence-band edge or the conductionband edge of the shell material is located in the bandgap of the core. |
