Thee depletion of fossil fuels accompanied by environmental contamination has stimulated the development of alternative advanced technologies for sustainable energy
conversion and storage, such as metal-air batteries, fuel cells, and water electrolysis. The core of these technologies enormously depends on a series of electrochemical
reactions, including oxygen reduction reaction (ORR), oxygen evolution reaction (OER), hydrogen oxidation reaction (HOR), and hydrogen evolution reaction
(HER), wherein the kinetics of these four signicant electrochemical processes has a considerable impact on the output performance of the aforementioned clean energyrelated
devices as a whole. In this regard, the rational design of electrocatalysts which demonstrate high activity and strong durability is greatly promising.
A broad spectrum of advanced techniques involving nanotechnology and synthetic chemistry has been exploited. Remarkably, nanostructures can be introduced with
numerous advantages such as large surface areas, high active-site concentration, and improved mass/electron transport. erefore, we invite investigators to contribute
original research articles and review articles on nanostructured functional materials for enhanced electrocatalysis. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
* Electrocatalysts composed of noble-metal-based or earth-abundant elements with diverse nanostructures for electrochemical catalysis
* Latest technologies for nanostructuring and measuring
* Theoretical results on the basis of computer simulations
* Review articles on recent advances of aforementioned topics
