PhD Position in Computational Biophysics at SUNY Binghamton

| A research assistant position funded by NIH is available immediately for a new PhD student in Materials Science and Engineering at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Binghamton. The research is focused on biomolecular modeling of bacterial outer membranes. The goal is to reveal the specific interactions between small signaling molecules and physiologically-relevant asymmetric lipid membranes and the membrane behavior in response to the insertion of molecules. The student’s research will be computational; however, close collaboration is expected with faculty and students in Mechanical Engineering and Biology. Strong theoretical background in math and physics is highly desirable. Experience in biophysics/biochemistry, organic chemistry and full-atom molecular dynamics simulations is an advantage.
