Title: Study on a high current density redox flow battery with tin(Ⅱ)/tin as negative couple
Corresponding Author: Mr Liu
Dear Mr Liu,
I have now received the referees' reviews on your paper referenced above.
I am afraid that the referees conclude that the paper is not suitable for publication in its present form.
If you are able to correct the paper taking into account all of the points raised in the referees' report (below), I would be willing to arrange for the paper to be reviewed again. According to the journal guidelines revisions should be submitted within 30 days.
If you choose to revise your manuscript it will be due into the Editorial Office by the Dec 29, 2014.
Please submit your revision online within by logging onto the Elsevier Editorial System for Journal of Power Sources:

Your username is: ******
The manuscript record can be found in the "Submissions Needing Revision" menu. (If you have forgotten your password, please click the "Forget your password" link located on the log-in screen.)
When submitting your revised paper, please include a separate document uploaded as "Response to Reviews" that carefully addresses the issues raised in the below comments, point by point. You should also include a suitable rebuttal to any specific request for change that has not been made. To assist the review process, it is essential that all corrections made to the text (in response to both the Editor's and the reviewer's comments) are highlighted in red type.
To facilitate the electronic publication of your manuscript (should it be accepted), we request that you upload electronic source files for the text and figures. These files should include the text, tables and figure legend in an editable electronic format (MS Word, WordPerfect, LaTeX, RTF) and all figures saved individually as TIF, JPEG, EPS, PDF or MS Office files. Information and instructions about the file types and formatting of figures can be found at: http://www.elsevier.com/artworkinstructions
Please note that this journal offers a new, free service called AudioSlides: brief, webcast-style presentations that are shown next to published articles on ScienceDirect (see also http://www.elsevier.com/audioslides). If your paper is accepted for publication, you will automatically receive an invitation to create an AudioSlides presentation.
Thank you, and we look forward to receiving your revised manuscript.
With kind regards,
Z. Ogumi

Reviewers' comments:
Reviewer #1 The submission reports a study on using Sn/Sn2+ as a negative redox couple in a redox flow battery with VO2+/VO2+ positive redox couple. The results showed that the battery is able to operate at a high current density. While there are some merits, the present paper lacks reasonable scientific discussion. Below are some major issues of the paper that the authors need to address before acceptance for publication.
* Improving English proficiency is generally needed. No grammar errors should be allowed.
* In the second paragraph of Results and Discussion session, explain why the CV scan indicates irreversible kinetics?
* Also explain the meanings of symbols used in the equation.
* In the second paragraph of section 3.2 as well as Fig.3, how is the energy efficiency of 72% derived? Why in the Abstract it became a voltage efficiency?
* Explain why the battery voltage in Fig.4 is not stable with time. |
