The research group ¡°Cooperative and intelligent embedded systems¡± (https://www.umu.se/en/research/g ... -embedded-systems/) at Umeå University, Sweden is seeking a Ph.D. student and a postdoc on the topic of intelligent embedded systems. We consider safety-critical cyber-physical systems that feature closed-loop real-time interactions between the embedded computing system and the physical environment with a sense-compute-actuate feedback loop. One prototypical example of such systems is Autonomous Vehicles. Such safety-critical cyber-physical systems are ubiquitous in our modern society, and it is important to ensure their safety despite the presence of significant hardware resource constraints including computing power, memory size, and networking bandwidth. This project aims to provide techniques and tools to help the system designer in the effective and efficient design of safety and secure cyber-physical systems, including real-time task scheduling, real-time perception, cooperative perception, adversarial attacks and defenses, applications of Large Language and Vision Models, etc.
