Prof. Sung Wng Kim's Research Group at the Energy Science Department of Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) is recruiting fully funded M.S.-Ph.D. combined and Ph.D. candidates for the Electro-Active Energy Material (EAEM) laboratory. Sungkyunkwan University, located in Korea, ranks 97th in the 2022 QS World University Rankings and 122nd in the 2022 Times Higher Education World University Rankings. It has consistently been ranked as the top private university in South Korea by the Chosun Ilbo University Rankings, standing second only to Seoul National University. With a history dating back over 600 years, SKKU traces its origins to the establishment of Sungkyunkwan, the highest educational institution of the Joseon Dynasty, in 1398. The Energy Science Department is situated in the natural science campus of SKKU in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, within the greater Seoul metropolitan area, offering convenient transportation and comfortable living conditions. Professor Sung Wng Kim, a director of the Energy Science Department at SKKU, leads independent research focusing on the synthesis and application of novel inorganic materials. The research group is currently seeking M.S.-Ph.D. combined and Ph.D. candidates to conduct research in the synthesis and characterization of inorganic thermoelectric materials, with the enrollment starting in September 2024. The research group is well-funded and equipped with state-of-the-art instruments, with research interests spanning across the forefronts of thermoelectric and two-dimensional materials research. The group has published numerous papers in leading journals such as Science and various Nature sub-journals, including publications in Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Materials, Science Advances, and others. With a current team comprising nine students and postdoctoral researchers, including members from China, the group fosters a harmonious and collaborative research environment. Salary conditions for Ph.D. students adhere to the standards set by SKKU's Energy Science Department, offering full scholarships and monthly stipends not less than 1 million KRW for the first two years for Master's students, and 1.5 million KRW for Ph.D. students thereafter. There are no strict requirements regarding academic backgrounds; candidates with backgrounds in chemistry, physics, materials science, or related fields are encouraged to apply. Applicants with knowledge or interest in the synthesis of thermoelectric materials or related fields are welcome to submit their resumes for consideration. Language proficiency certification is required for graduate student applicants, although exemptions may be granted with the professor's consent for exceptionally qualified candidates. Nanotechnol., Nat. Mater., Sci. Adv., Nat. Commun., Adv. Mater., Adv. Sci., Energy Environ. Sci., J. Am. Chem.
