blurb-background of scholarship
applications are invited for a phd scholarship opportunity in the waikato centre for advanced materials and manufacturing at the school of engineering university of Waikato,New Zealand this proiect is funded by the roval societyte aparanai (marsdenfund) and it will investigate the factors affecting interface formation in copper/diamond composite materials, determine how they influence the composite's thermophysical properties and discover the underlying mechanisms, to develop better composite materials for thermal management in high-power electronic devices. the successful applicant should be eligible to enrol at the university of waikato (please check phd enrollment reauirements at https://calendar waikato.ac.nzregulations/higheriphd).

candidates should hold a first or upper second-class honors degree in a relevant subiect such as materials science,materials and process engineering or an associated discipline. having one or more of the following is preferred:
(1) the candidate has experience in metal composite materials preparation and interface design and characterisation,together with the ability to analyse develop and solve open ended research problems or
(2) the candidate has experience in powder metallurgy interface science thermo mechanical processing and materials characterisation and a strong background in metallurgy and metals or
(3) the candidate has a physics background and/or experience in first-principles computational simulation research.

expected starting date: before 1 nov 2023 location: Hamilton, New Zealand
funding amount: nz $35,000 per annum plus domestic fees for a period of three years

eligibility criteria:
full-time
domestic/international/prstudents

english requirements:
an academic ielts overall score of at least 6.5(with no less than 6.0 in anyband)or
an IBT (internet based TOEFL) score of 90 with a writing score of 21 or
a TOEFL IBT home-based overall score of 90 with a writing score of 21 or
a PTE academic overall score of 58 and no PTE communicative skills below 50
