PhD Positions in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at HKUST
The Laboratory for Advanced Manufacturing and Innovative Design (LAMID https://maeylu.people.ust.hk/ ) led by Dr. Yanglong Lu from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is recruiting highly motivated PhD students starting from Spring 2023. Dr. Lu will join the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at HKUST as an assistant professor this summer. Students with interests in additive manufacturing process monitoring and control, Multiphysics modeling and simulation, physics-informed machine learning, and 3D bioprinting are highly encouraged to apply.
PhD students will receive a full scholarship of HK$ 18,030 per month. Those with outstanding qualities of academic performance, research ability / potential, communication and interpersonal skills, and leadership abilities are encouraged to apply for the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS). Qualifications:
• B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or closely related field.
• Prior research experience in manufacturing, computational modeling and simulation, or machine learning is highly preferred.
• Strong self-motivation and the ability to work independently.
• Applicants should satisfy English Language Admission Requirements: at least 6.5 for overall score and 5.5 for all sub-score in IELTS; or at least 550 in paper-based TOEFL; or at least 80 in internet-based TOEFL.
