Postdoctor opportunities in Dmitry Kurouski's lab, Texas A&M University
We have two postdoctor openings in Dmitry Kurouski's lab. Qualified applicants with related backgrounds are welcome to apply. The detailed job description can be found below.
1. Postdoctoral Fellow with an experience in Raman/Infrared spectroscopy and/or scanning probe microscopy
The laboratory of Dr. Dmitry Kurouski at the Texas A&M University, Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics seeks to recruit a Postdoctoral Fellow with an experience in Raman/Infrared spectroscopy and/or scanning probe microscopy. The research project will be focused on a development of tip-enhanced Raman spectroscopy, an innovative imaging approach that has angstrom spatial resolution and single molecule sensitivity. We are interested in TERS imaging of 1) catalytic nanostructures and 2) biological systems. The project will be an ideal for candidates with an interest in either one of these research areas.
Responsibilities:
Perform investigational studies utilizing TERS in either 1) catalytic nanostructures or 2) biological systems or both.
Credentials and Qualifications:
Successfully applicants will have Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Biophysics, Biochemistry or related fields with proven track record of productivity in form of publication in reputable journals. Ideal candidate should have hands-on-experience in spectroscopy/optics and/or scanning probe microscopy.
Where we are:
The laboratory is located in the main campus of Texas A&M University (College Station, TX). We are around 2-2.5 hours away from Houston, Dallas and Austin.
How to Apply: A competitive salary and benefits package will be offered to the successful candidate. Interested applicants should send a single PDF file of their current CV with publications list to Prof. Dmitry Kurouski (dkurouski@tamu.edu).
2. Postdoctoral Fellow with an experience in cell and molecular biology
The laboratory of Dr. Dmitry Kurouski at the Texas A&M University, Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics seeks to recruit a Technician or a Postdoctoral Fellow with an experience in cell and molecular biology. The research project will be focused on the elucidation of the relationship between structure and toxicity of amyloid oligomers. The candidate will be also asked to explore the effect of lipids on the aggregation mechanisms of amyloidogenic proteins.
The ideal candidate should have an experience in eukaryotic cell lines and toxicity assays and be open minded to learn biophysical methods of structural analysis: Raman and Infrared spectroscopy.
Credentials and Qualifications:
Successfully applicants should have M. Sc. or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biology, Biophysics, Biochemistry or related fields with proven track record of productivity in form of publication in reputable journals.
