The successful candidate will perform computational research mainly based on density-functional theory (DFT) calculations to investigate the electronic properties of low-dimensional materials as well as their potential applications in energy technologies. The position is for three years. Salary will be predetermined based on postdoctoral step rates. Instruction of Group We are looking for young, dedicated and dynamic scientists to join our theoretical research group. We focus on exciting and new two-dimensional (2D) materials and heterostructures. We seek to understand the electronic properties and their potential application of these materials. Professor Jin-Ho Choi Jin-Ho Choi is currently Professor of College of Energy, Soochow University. He earned his PhD in theoretical condensed matter physics from Hanyang University (Korea) in 2011. In his thesis work he studied the self-assembly mechanisms of one-dimensional molecular lines on semiconductor surfaces. After completing his PhD, he joined University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) as a distinguished postdoc. In USTC, he studied the electronic properties of 2D or energy-related materials for 3 years. He then worked at Dongguk University and Pusan National University before he joined Soochow University in 2017. Dr. Choi is now focusing on 2D materials for energy applications. He has published 33 SCI papers. What You Will Do: • Theoretical modeling and simulation of 2D van der Waals materials and heterostructures. • Analyze and interpret calculation results. • Prepare project reports, presentations, and manuscripts, and present results in internal and external meetings. • Direct Master and Bachelor degree students. • Collaborate with other Postdoctoral Scholars and PhD researchers. • Support and contribute to the development of research project ideas and proposals. What Is Required: •Recent Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemistry, or similar field. •Strong demonstrated experience in 2D materials research by DFT calculations. • Ability to work independently to achieve project goals, meet deadlines, solve problems, and develop scientific ideas. •Ability to collaborate and work in a diverse team and willingness to contribute to the shared goals of the team. •Excellent verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills.
