法国波尔多大学Gilles Sèbe招收纳米纤维素方向CSC博士生

Dr Gilles Sèbe received his MSc degree in Organic Chemistry in 1992 (U. of Bordeaux) and his PhD degree in Wood Chemistry in 1996 (U. of Bordeaux). He completed his cursus with a one-year post-doc in the group of Pr Michael A. Brook at McMaster University in Hamilton (Canada). There, he gained additional expertise in Organosilicon Chemistry, which he later applied to the chemical functionalization of wood and other biopolymers. In 1998, he was appointed as a research scientist at the BioComposites Center in Bangor (UK), where he conducted several research projects related to the chemistry of natural fibers. Two years later, he joined the University of Bordeaux as an Associate Professor and started to develop his own research themes related to the chemistry of wood and biopolymers. His current research at the LCPO is focused on the chemical functionalization of nanocelluloses.

In the past few years, Dr Gilles Sèbe used different functionalization strategies – e.g. acylation, silylation, and polymer grafting - to produce nanocellulose particles with various tailored surface properties, which could find application in different domains. In particular, he developed systems where nanocelluloses could serve as valuable reinforcing and barrier agents in nanocomposites, Pickering emulsifiers, porous scaffolds, or catalyst supports.

In 2008, he was appointed Adjunct Associate Professor at the Department of Forestry, Wildlife, and Fisheries of the University of Tennessee (Knoxville, USA). He was also nominated French representative at the Management Committees of two European Actions COST : FP1006 “Bringing new functions to wood through surface modification” (2011-2014) and FP1205 “Innovative applications of regenerated wood cellulose fibres” (2013-2017).
