phd student in microsystems and microdevices for wearable and biosensing applications the innohk research centre is a ~500 million hong kong government incentive to strengthen r&d in hong kong. the centre for cardiovascular disease research is currently being established and is an international team of over 200 high-calibre researchers consisting principle investigators, research fellows, phd students, and ras. as a key affiliate of the center, city university of hong kong (department of biomedical engineering, department of materials science and engineering) is looking for phd students (“immediate” fall 2020 entry) to work on microsystems and micro analytical platforms for wearable and biosensing applications. the applicant must have prior publications and strong interest in bioanalytical microsystems involving one of the following areas: 1. nanomaterials 2. microfluidics 3. microelectronics/micro-optics the primary focus will be on the engineering aspects of the micro-bioanalytical platforms. platform requirements will be directed by potential applications including research in the detection of cancer, cells, and diseases. applicants without prior relevant publications but with an exceptionally strong materials background may also apply. depending on the research topic, (co)-supervision will be primarily provided by applications can be emailed to dr. derek ho, associate professor, cityu materials science and engineering (www.atomstosystems.com), and/or dr. bee luan khoo, assistant professor, cityu department of biomedical engineering (https://www.cityu.edu.hk/bme/blkhoo/). applications can be emailed to dr. derek ho (derekho@cityu.edu.hk). the first batch of consideration will begin immediately and it is advantageous to apply as soon as possible. in the email, please submit (i) cv in english, (ii) state gpa of all completed degrees, (iii) english score (min. ilets 6.5), (iv) pdfs of first author publications. complete applications will be considered with priority.
