Interesting PhD Positions
There are two PhD positions now is available in my colleague group. The group is leaded by Prof. Remo Proietti Zaccaria, who is a distinguished researcher in IIT-Italy and Chinese Academy of Sciences-China. He is contributing to the creation of a real and solid collaboration between West and East through the free exchange of ideas and human resources. His research fields include biomedicine to energy harvesting/storage and digital twin.
So far he has been co-author of 14 book chapters and over 100 journal papers (all peer reviewed). In particular, he contributed to 1 Nature Photonics (IF 31.58), 1 Nature Communications (IF 11.88), 1 Nature Nanotechnology (33.41), 7 Nano Letters (IF 12.08), 5 ACS Nano (IF 13.71), 2 Advanced Materials (IF 25.81), 1 PNAS (IF 9.58), 3 ACS Applied Mat. & Int. (IF 8.46), 2 Journal of Power Sources (IF 6.95), 5 Scientific Reports (IF 4.53), 5 Physical Review B (IF 3.74), 2 Applied Physics Letters (IF 3.844), 3 Optics Letters (IF 3.42), 8 Optics Express (IF 3.56), 5 ACS Photonics (IF 6.88), 3 Advanced Functional Materials (IF 15.62), 3 Nanoscale (IF 7.23), 2 Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters (IF 8.71), 2 Journal Material Chemistry A (IF 10.73), 1 Nano Energy (IF 15.55) and 1 Science Advances (IF 12.80).
Some details about the PhD positions are shown as the following:
Multiphysics approach to lithium-ion batteries
We offer a three years PhD position (covered by fellowship) at the Italian Institute of Technology (www.iit.it) in collaboration with the Polytechnical University of Milan (www.polimi.it). The work activity will address the theoretical analysis of energy storage oriented systems by identifying multiphysics solutions capable of predicting the behaviour of a complete lithium-ion battery system. Numerical and analytical approaches will be properly combined in order to achieve the best performing model. The final goal is to realize a powerful numerical tool which, combined with the in-house battery fabrication capability, can lead to the design of innovative energy storage systems.
The activity will be run at the Italian Institute of Technology in close collaboration with the Department of Physics of the Polytecnical University of Milano, Italy. The successful candidate will be able to access to state of the art numerical tools as well as hardware support systems. Collaboration with experimentalist will be conducted on daily basis.
Multiphysics approach to nano-rectenna devices
We offer a three years PhD postion (covered by fellowship) at the Italian Institute of Technology (www.iit.it) in collaboration with the Polytechnical University of Milan (www.polimi.it).
The work activity will address the theoretical analysis of solar energy harvesting devices, specifically rectennas, by identifying multiphysics solutions capable of identifying the criticisms within these systems with the ultimate goal of improving their efficiency.
Numerical and analytical approaches will be properly combined in order to achieve the best performing model. The final goal is to realize a powerful numerical tool which, combined with the in-house rectennas fabrication capability, can lead to the design of a highly efficient rectenna, possibly one order of magnitude higher the state of the art.
The activity will be run within the Advanced Concept Group of the Italian Institute of Technology in close collaboration with the Department of Physics of the Polytecnical University of Milano, Italy. The successful candidate will be able to access to state of the art numerical tools as well as hardware support systems. Collaboration with experimentalist will be conducted on daily basis.
Requirements: The candidates should have a background in physics, material science, and chemistry or computer sciences. Importantly, they should be driven by strong interest in solving physics-related problems. General knowledge of electrochemistry as well as programming skills will be positively considered. The candidate should hold a master degree or, as alternative, it should be awarded within summer 2020.
Applications, including a research statement, detailed curriculum vitae and names/contacts of at least 2 referees, should be submitted in PDF format to: Remo Proietti Zaccaria, Email: remo.proietti@iit.it |
