A Postdoc Position in Bio-optical Imaging Laboratory, University of Kentucky
The Bio-optical Imaging Laboratory in the Department of Biomedical Engineering invites applications for a postdoctoral position, supported by NIH R01s. The Lab develops near-infrared optical technologies for continuous imaging of blood flow, oxygenation and oxygen metabolism in normal and diseased tissues of animals and humans. The goal is to apply noninvasive portable optical devices for diagnosis of various tissue/vascular diseases (e.g., cancer, stroke, cardiovascular disease) and instant monitoring and management of therapies (e.g., medication, chemo-radiation, revascularization).
Responsibilities consist of design and development of optical spectroscopic and tomographic systems, data analysis, image reconstruction, and in vivo measurements of tissue hemodynamics and metabolism. Preferred skills and qualifications (not necessarily having all skills):
• Experience in optical system design for imaging in free space and biological tissues.
• Programing skill: Zemax, Code V, Solidworks, AutoCAD, Matlab
• Familiar with laser diodes, lenses, mirrors, photo detectors, CCD/CMOS cameras
• Familiar with finite element methods (FEM).
To apply, submit a CV and a statement of interests to:
