The Biomedical Imaging Laboratory led by Prof. YUAN Wu ‘Scott’ in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, seeks to recruit several PhD students, Postdoctoral Fellows (Postdoc) or Research Assistants (RA) in the research areas of: (1) Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) technologies for clinical intraluminal imaging and intra-operative applications; (2) Advanced Endomicroscopy and Computational Optics for translational biomedical imaging; and (3) Machine Learning for advanced biomedical imaging and quantitative image analysis. For Postdoc, you will be encouraged to develop new research directions, not limited to the group’s current research focus. Desired candidates should have: (1) A background in optics, electrical engineering, computer science, physics, or other closely related fields; (2) Hands-on experience in any of the following areas: optics, bio-optics, fiber-optics, lasers, optical imaging/microscopy, deep learning; and (3) Good publication record. About the PI: Dr. YUAN joined the Department of Biomedical Engineering in the Chinese University of Hong Kong as an Assistant Professor in January 2020. He received the PhD degree in Electronic Engineering from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in December 2008. He was a research associate at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, with a joint appointment to the Department of Neurologic Surgery, Mayo Clinic. His research focused on the high-resolution biomedical imaging and AI-assisted image processing technologies for translational applications. He has pioneered several innovative bio-photonics imaging probes/devices to enable translational applications of high-resolution optical endomicroscopy imaging, such as portable ultrahigh-resolution endoscopic OCT system, ultracompact OCT microprobe, multifunctional deep-brain microneedle and 3D volumetric airway balloon imaging technology etc. To date, he has published 40 peer‐reviewed articles, including Nature Communications and Science Advances, with a total citation about 2000 and an H-index 24. He currently serves on the editorial board of several international journals in the area of bioengineering and medicine. Other information: Monthly Salary: For Postdoctoral Fellow or RA with at least a Master degree: in range of HK$ 21,000 to 33,000 (≈ US$ 2,704 or RMB 18,830 to US$ 4,250 or RMB 29590), negotiable depending on the qualifications. For RA without a Master degree: in range of HK$ 13,000 to 25,000 (≈ US$ 1,674 or RMB 11,657 to US$ 3,219 or RMB 22,417), negotiable depending on the qualifications. For PhD student: HK$ 17,000 to 25,800 (≈ US$ 2,189 or RMB 15,243 to US$ 3,322 or RMB 23,133), with possible conference allowance of HK$ 12,900, depending on fellowship schemes.
