Postdoctoral fellow/research associate openings at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), Hong Kong
Multiple postdoctoral fellows (basic qualification: PhD) and research associates (basic qualification: Master’s + at least 4 years research experiences) openings are currently available in Surgical Robotics and Devices Laboratory in the Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, led by Professor Shing Shin Cheng. The laboratory focuses on flexible surgical robots development, surgical image guidance, virtual reality platforms, smart sensors and actuators, and exploratory projects of artificial intelligence in the surgical robotics domain. The multiple posts will last for either 12 months or 18 months, subject to mutual agreement.
We are seeking strong and highly motivated candidates who have background in any of the following research areas: robotics, mechanical design, modeling/simulation, control, smart actuators/sensors, planning and navigation, and perception. Preferences will be given to those who have experiences in surgical robotics, soft robotics, and medical imaging-related research. The appointee will be expected to conduct high impact and potentially technology translatable research related to surgical robotics. He/She will assist the PI in supporting multiple research projects.
Postdoctoral fellows/research associates should, by the beginning of their contracts, (i) have the basic qualifications mentioned above in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related engineering disciplines; (ii) have strong publication records in high impact factor journals; (iii) demonstrate effective written and spoken English. Experience collaborating with clinical personnel would be an advantage.
The contract will start in early August 2019. Salary will be highly competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
