Job Title: Ph.D. in Dynamical Systems and Control - control of networks of heterogeneous non-holonomic vehicles Application Deadline: October 1, 2018 Position Start Date: January 1, 2019 A Ph.D. position funded by the Office of Naval Research is available at Villanova University, Department of Mechanical Engineering, to conduct research on control of networks of heterogeneous non-holonomic vehicles. The ideal candidate is expected to have a strong background in mathematics and differential equations. Some background in mechanics and control theory is strongly preferred. The research project will involve theoretical development of control algorithms, stability analysis of dynamical systems, as well as experimental implementation of the developed theory. The experimental laboratory is available at the Center for Nonlinear Dynamics and Control (CENDAC) and involves the state-of-the-art real-time control and tracking technology, a fleet of heterogeneous vehicles, and supporting infrastructure. Financial support for tuition and stipend will be provided. The candidate is expected to start in spring 2019. Qualifications and Skills: • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. A thesis-based Master's degree is preferred. • Strong knowledge of calculus and differential equations • Basic MATLAB programming skills How to Apply: To apply, please send the following application materials to Dr. H.
