Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:
• A recent Ph.D. in wood chemistry, polymer chemistry and engineering, organic chemistry, materials science and engineering, or related discipline;
• Strong background in organic synthesis and grafting polymerization;
• Relevant experience in lignin chemistry;
• Hand on experience in organic synthesis, and characterization using NMR, GPC, MS, FTIR, SEM, TEM, and thermal analysis;
• Strong communication skills in both oral and written English;
• Initiative, self-motivation and attention to detail;
Job responsibility:
• Analytical characterization of lignin structure and molecular weight from different fractionation process;
• Develop reaction schemes to modify lignin with improved thermal/solution processability;
• Design high performance hierarchical structures (fibers, films, aerogel, hydrogels) using chemically modified lignin;
• Exploration of the application of lignin-based materials as structural and functional materials;
• Preparation of lab report and manuscript for publication;
• Presentation at international conferences. |
