Sample TextPh.D. Research Assistantship in Composite Materials

There is one Ph.D. Research Assistantship (RA) opening available in the Advanced Metacomposites Laboratory [http://metacomposites.uakron.edu/] in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at The University of Akron. The research work will be to investigate polymeric composite materials in at least one of the following areas:

mechanical testing and characterization;
impact and dynamic response; effects of
manufacturing defects;
non‐destructive inspection techniques;
design of composite
sandwich structures; and mechanical analysis of non‐planar composite structures.

Candidates for the Ph.D. RA position should possess a M.Sc. or M.Eng. (or very good B.Eng. with research experience) in solid mechanics, with strong interest and experience in computational and/or experimental analysis of composite materials.

Interested students should contact Prof. K.T. Tan at ktan@uakron.edu for further enquiries or detailed discussion. Applicants should send their applications in a single pdf file, which includes a full CV, list of two referees with contact details, and a cover letter stating suitability for the position. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted for entrance interview. The start date for this position will be from June (Summer semester)
or August (Fall semester) 2018.

您好，具体语言要求应该是以University of Akron的博士研究生语言要求为准。

您好！咨询了一下系里，回复如下：

”Yes, requires English test result and GRE score.

The minimum requirement for TOEFL is 213 on computer-based or 79 on internet-based. Or minimum of 6.5 on IELTS.

Minimum GRE is 3.0 (analytical) and 146 Quantitative current scale.

如果申请csc的话可以不考gre么？

不考g拿不到美国大学offer, 拿不到offer就申请不到csc.
