Looking for Master students:
Master graduate positions are available immediately in the research group led by Prof. Junjie Yang in the department of physics at Central Michigan University (https://www.cmich.edu/colleges/cst/physics/Pages/Junjie-Yang.aspx). Yang group mainly focuses on quantum materials, in which the interactions between the constituent particles cannot be treated in a semi-classical manner, exhibiting exotic electronic and magnetic properties. Examples include unconventional superconductors, multiferroics, topological insulator, quantum spin liquid and spin jam. Quantum materials have enormous potential to revolutionize energy-related technologies, storage and processing of data, as well as the next-generation computing. Research in this field is fast moving and exciting. In our lab, we focus on transformative questions framed around cutting edge challenges for the synthesis of new quantum materials and the characterization of their bulk and microscopic properties. Dr. Yang has published around 37 papers in top journals of condensed matter physics, including 9 Physical Review Letters, 2 PNAS, 1 Nature Communications, 1 JACS, 8 Physical Review B and 5 Applied Physics Letters.
We are looking for creative, enthusiastic and highly motivated master students with a Bachelor degree majored in physics, materials science, chemistry, or other related fields. Persons who fill these positions will have opportunities to receive rigorous education and training in both sample synthesis and characterization under extreme conditions (low temperature, high magnetic field and high pressure), get involved with neutron/x-ray scattering experiments at national labs, and collaborate with experimental and theoretical researchers in prestigious research institutes around the world. Competitive salary/allowance will be provided throughout the period of stay. Highly motivated candidates should submit a curriculum vitae, names of two or three references, transcript, and a cover letter expressing their interest and research experience. Please send information to Prof. Junjie Yang. Careful consideration will be guaranteed for all.
Thank you.
