Polymeric Surfactants Composed of Natural Molecules

Call for Papers

Polymeric surfactants, which are amphiphilic polymers containing both hydrophilic and hydrophobic segments, have been widely investigated and applied in several fields, such as coatings, cosmetics, nanotechnology, and medicine. Amphiphilic polymers containing polyacrylic, polyvinylpyridines, or aromatic sulfonate blocks are comprised of nondegradable carbon-carbon backbones, which may be harmful for environment and this could limit their possible applications in some fields, especially biomedicine. Although several biodegradable natural polymers are polymeric surfactants, they are usually difficult to isolate from natural sources. In addition, the structures, compositions, and properties of isolated polymeric surfactants often vary according to the source.

Natural molecules, such as amino acids, vegetable oils, sugars, and polyols, are widely present in various plants. The polymeric surfactants that are derived from these natural molecules are environmentally friendly and biodegradable, and their degradation products are usually nontoxic. Therefore, well-designed biodegradable polymeric surfactants prepared from natural molecules have become a hot research topic.

This special issue aims to focus on recent advances and developments of novel polymeric surfactants derived from natural molecules. Articles that highlight polymeric surfactants derived from amino acids, vegetable oils, sugars, and polyols are of particular interest. It welcomes high-quality original research papers on the preparations, properties, and applications of these polymeric surfactants. Review articles which describe the current state of research into these polymeric surfactants are also welcomed.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

New strategies for preparing polymeric surfactants derived from natural molecules
Surface activity of novel polymeric surfactants
The relationship between structure and surface activity
Toxicity and degradability of polymeric surfactants derived from natural molecules
    Self-assembly behaviors of polymeric surfactants
Stimuliresponsive polymeric surfactants from natural molecules
Application of polymeric surfactants derived from natural molecules in biomedical or other fields
Studies into the relationship between the source of the polymeric surfactant and the resulting structure

Authors can submit their manuscripts through the Manuscript Tracking System at https://mts.hindawi.com/submit/j ... .chemistry/nsmpbs/.
Submission Deadline        Friday, 20 December 2019
Publication Date        May 2020

Papers are published upon acceptance, regardless of the Special Issue publication date.

(Papers are published upon acceptance, regardless of the Special Issue publication date.)。
