Position: Postdoc in Northeastern University, MA, USA
Project: fluorescent nanosensor to image neural communication in vivo
PI: HEATHER A. CLARK
Lab website: www.neu.edu/nanosensors

The Clark Laboratory www.neu.edu/nanosensors and Monaghan Laboratory at Northeastern University are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate for an NIH-funded project to image acetylcholine in the mouse peripheral nervous system. This project is an exciting opportunity to use a relatively mature fluorescent nanosensor to image neural communication in vivo. The goal of the project is to use real-time imaging of acetylcholine release in the peripheral nervous system to understand nerve-organ interactions. The project includes the use of genetic mouse models and live imaging using 2-photon microscopy in a brand new imaging facility at Northeastern University.
The successful candidate needs to be highly motivated and have a strong background in fluorescence imaging, particularly in vivo. A background in surgery, neural imaging, or optics will be considered a plus. This position will include designing and running experiments, troubleshooting new methods, and research project management including drafting manuscripts, and reporting to NIH. The associate will perform animal handling, surgery, and fluorescent imaging while working alongside a second postdoctoral associate that specializes in nanosensor formulation and synthesis.
The candidate is expected to have a Ph.D. or equivalent; be able to undertake substantially full-time research or scholarship; work under the supervision of a senior scholar.
