overview:
applications are invited for phd scholarship (srd program) in the department of physics at the dongguk university, korea, starting on 1st march 2018. the successful applicant will undertake one of the following researches:
-fabrication and characterization of 2d materials (graphene and tmdc) and 2d-materials-based electronic/optoelectronic devices
-fabrication and characterization of functional nanomaterials for sensor, energy harvesting, and photocatalyst applications

background requirement:
the candidate must have the degree of master in physics, chemistry, electrical engineering or materials science before 28 february 2019.
if you have sci publications, you will have a good chance to obtain admission. but, it is not mandatory for application

financial supports:  
phd: the basic salary is 800,000 krw (about 700 $+) per month, and  will be paid as an incentive.
master and phd integrated: 1—3 semester 600,000 won (about 500 $+), 4—10 semester 800,000 won (about 700 $+).
tuitions: all admission fees and tuitions are paid by dongguk university.
ps:  if you can publish more than two papers, the university will pay 1,000,000 won per paper as award.

description of lab members and research areas:
in professor woochul yang’s lab, lab. members are composed of two assistant professors, two foreign students (one pakistan student, one vietnam student), and four korean students.
the main topics of prof. yang’s lab. are
synthesis and characterization of 2-d materials: graphene, mos2, g-c3n4, bn et al.
synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials: functional nanomaterials (quantum dots, nanowires, nanosheets), luminescence nanoparticles, ii-vi, iii-v compound semiconductor nanostructures, ferroelectric and ferromagnetic nanostructures, and their hybrid structures
applications of these materials: sensor, photocatalyst, energy harvesting devices, electronic and optical devices et al.
surface characterization and nanolithography based on spm, photo and electron lithography
