UTS-CSC PhD Program

The Centre for Autonomous Systems at University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) in Australia is seeking candidates for PhD students working on Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) and Image Guide Robotic Surgery. Students with good mathematical background and programming skills are encouraged to apply. Previous research experience in SLAM and/or computer vision is a plus.

The PhD students will be supervised by Dr. Liang Zhao, A/Prof. Shoudong Huang and Prof. Gamini Dissanayake

Successful candidates will receive the Tuition Fees Offset Scholarship provided by UTS to cover the tuition fees and the scholarship provided by CSC to assist with general living costs.

The deadline of this PhD application on the UTS side is January 15th, 2019.

UTS Centre for Autonomous Systems (UTS:CAS) consists of 78 staff and students working on various aspects of robotics, in particular in sensing, data fusion and control. From 2003 to 2010, CAS was part of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Autonomous Systems, one of the largest robotics research groups in the world. Since 2003, CAS attracted $25m funding for its research from both the Australian Research Council and Industry such as Roads and Traffic Authority of New South Wales, Australia; Sydney Water; Patrick Stevedores Holdings, Australia's largest operator of container terminals and a leading logistics company; Pempek, a SME in the mining sector and Meat and Livestock Australia.
