Postdoctoral Position in Multiscale Modeling and Simulation of Biomaterials

    University of New Hampshire
    Location: Durham, NH
    Job Number: 7053503
    Posting Date: Sep 30, 2018
    Application Deadline: Open Until Filled

Job Description
A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Harish Vashisth in Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of New Hampshire (UNH). The position is part of a newly established US National Science Foundation-funded New Hampshire Center in Multiscale Modeling and Manufacturing of Biomaterials (NH-BioMade). The research thrust at the NH-BioMade center in which the postdoctoral researcher will be involved will pursue integrated computational and experimental studies on a new class of biomaterials made up of polymeric and biomimetic scaffolds. The postdoctoral researcher will be provided access to a new state-of-the-art high-performance-computing facility with advanced GPU and data storage capabilities, and numerous opportunities will be available for interactions with researchers outside UNH as well as for professional development including mentoring of junior researchers. The position is initially for one year with the possibility of renewal in subsequent years pending available funding and progress as well as productivity of the postdoctoral candidate.

Qualifications:

An ideal candidate should hold a doctorate (Ph.D.) in chemical engineering, chemistry, physics, or in a related interdisciplinary field. The candidate should have a strong theory and computational science background in physical chemistry, polymer physics, and/or molecular biophysics, and ideally should have significant prior research experience in simulations of polymeric systems as well as in the development of new simulation methods and algorithms, their implementation in simulation software, and testing via high-performance computing resources. The ideal candidate is expected to work well independently but is also expected to integrate well in a collaborative team environment with excellent interpersonal, written, and oral skills needed to effectively converse with researchers from diverse backgrounds.

Application Process:

Please apply online at https://jobs.usnh.edu (https://jobs.usnh.edu/postings/31146) to receive full consideration for this position. Applicants should provide a cover letter, detailed curriculum vitae, including full publication list and the names as well as contact information of 3-4 references. Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
