One PhD position in the area of lithium batteries (Li-ion, Li-S battery or Li-air battery) is available at Technische Universität Berlin.
The candidate will focus on“Characterization of Structural Degradation Mechanisms of Lithium Batteries” using several available imaging techniques, including (synchrotron) X-ray tomography/holotomography, FIB-SEM tomography under in-situ and in-operando conditions. The combination of the created 3D multi-scale morphology and structure imaging with electrical/electrochemical data is proposed, to optimize lithium battery electrode structures, restrain the electrode degradation and finally improve the overall electrochemical performance.
The candidate will register and get the PhD degree at Technische Universität Berlin (TUB). The facilities and testing instruments of the characterization methods required in this program are accessible in Technische Universität Berlin (TUB) and Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin.

Requirements:
1.  Applicant should have a background in the materials science, chemical synthesize, physics，nanomaterial or other related fields. Experience of research on lithium batteries, especially on solid electrolyte batteries, Li-O2, is more preferred.
2. Applicant should meet the requirements of China Scholarship Council when apply the CSC scholarship.
3. Fluency in English (written and spoken) is also required.
