I have not heard of a "joint training PhD" before, and I wonder if you could provide more details. Are you seeking access to our program as a regular PhD student, completing all degree requirements? Or are you seeking to come for a semester or two to join us in classes? If you are hoping to complete the entire program, you will have to apply through the regular admissions process, even though you bring your own funding. 看来是楼主没有把联合培养给解释清楚，应该希望是很大的。
直接说你以类似访问学者的身份过去做一段时间的研究，或许对方更容易理解吧，然后说清楚你不需要上课，也不需要拿对方的学位
感觉问题出在你的套磁信上，他没弄懂Joint PhD的意思
就告诉他是visiting student就行，Joint PhD只是一个称呼。
